oh, the dreaded portfolio

// July 31st, 2009 // 4 Comments » // Moo

I can’t believe it’s still not done.  Yeah, I can!  The truth is: when you’re a designer, there is sometimes a struggle between promoting yourself and your services – and actually PROVIDING those services.  It seems that every other designer/developer/artist I know is so busy taking care of their clients’ needs that they never have time to update their own site!

Such is the case with my online portfolio.  Oh, what a sad state it’s in.  Some day I will finish it.

And probably soon thereafter, I’ll decide to completely redesign my site and portfolio – and have to do it all again.

a “poll” of sorts

So, I have to know – for the one or two people who may actually read this…does the fact that you can’t click on my “logo” in the upper left to return to the home page bother you?

I know it’s bad web practice to have such a huge background image (of which my logo is part).  But I’m busy, lazy, and I just don’t care right now.

Unless it is troublesome to YOU, dear Internets.  And if so, please reply and let me know so that I can slap myself on the hand for being bad – and fix it.

:)

badmoomoo: what’s in a name?

// June 20th, 2009 // No Comments » // Moo

badmoomoo-logoI’ve been wondering what to do with this domain for several years now.  Project after project, from personal video game platform gamer tag to business concept, to product brand, “badmoomoo” has had many incarnations.  It isn’t until now that I finally decided to bite the bullet and use it as the domain for my personal blog (among other things.)

The name came about several years ago when my friend Michelle and I were making homemade soap, lotions, and cosmetic items; we decided we wanted a cutesy brand name for it all – something with an edge that still had a little goof to it (fitting since that might aptly describe both of us.)  The “moos” come from the first three letters of each our last names, and I believe it was Michelle who added the “bad” to it when we determined we wouldn’t like “moomoo” for anything.

I’ve had the badmoomoo logo (and some custom stamps made from it) sitting around for years and finally decided to just use it for whatever, whenever, instead of trying to “brand” some project or collaboration of mine that will probably never fully happen.  (I tend to get really gung ho on some idea and then move on without following through.  Such is the life of a jack-of-all-trades-and-master-of-none.  My dabbling is insane.)

So here I am, finally blogging, and finally putting a face on badmoomoo.  Will it last?  Stick around and find out.  Personally, I have no idea.
